Photography, as I see it, is simply a medium used as a vehicle for documentation, communication, and expression. The camera is a tool used to garner information, and I view the photograph through the eyes of a painter. The raw photograph is not the final product, as I feel relationships between content and composition beckon further exploration. The pursuit of artistic expression is also a search for truth; for me, the truth is discovered on the cutting room floor. The editing process is a wholly visceral experience. And for me the merit of the piece is measured by the emotion of the viewer.
