In my mixed media paintings, I pay homage to significant places and points in time. To create my compositions, I combine loose lines, organic shapes, collage and layers of color. Painting layer over layer, images emerge from beneath. These images are captured and manipulated, then often forced to recede beneath a new layer of paint. This process goes on again and again, until a harmonious balance has been achieved between figure and ground, between image and content.

I think the most difficult part of this process is knowing when to stop, because it’s so much fun. Raised in an artistic family, I was encouraged to paint, draw and explore my creative energies from an early age. I studied art at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a BFA in Art History and a minor in Studio Art. I currently paint at my home studio in Englewood, and my work has been exhibited in select galleries and artist co-ops in the Denver metro area.
